It just buys capacity (data and voice) from Verizon at wholesale rates and then resells the capacity to consumers. Xfinity doesn’t own any cell phone towers. Xfinity Mobile is a Verizon MVNO (mobile virtual network operator). Data deprioritization is when your cell phone carrier slows down your data speeds temporarily because the network is congested. Xfinity Mobile’s Unlimited Plan deprioritizes your data speeds when the network is heavily used. I typically use around 100GB per month, and I'm nowhere near a 1TB limit.Xfinity Mobile’s By The Gig plan is one of the best values among MVNOs because your service is comparable to Verizon’s post-paid service but costs only a fraction of Verizon’s post-paid plan. It was clear she was completely non-technical, and didn't know what throttling was, and there was no one technical I could speak to. When the connection went back up, it was still throttled, only now the parts of the downloads which had been going are gone. She did it, and lo-and-behold, my VoIP connection went down and all my downloads stopped. The operator said she was "pinging my modem." I asked her not to do it if it had any chance of interrupting my existing downloads (which were showing 17 hours remaining). About 25GB in, my internet got super-slow. It wasn't quite that fast, but it was going pretty well. I have a 300Mbps plan, so in abstract, that should be about half an hour of download time. I back up my Google account about once a year.
